Guns N' Roses was officially formed in 1985 when members of two bands decided to form a new group. The name comes from these 2 bands:

Hollywood Rose was a band Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin' were in. In 1985 Tracii Guns from L.A. Guns joined them and that's when GNR was born. Shortly after that, Tracii Guns was out, Duff joined Guns N' Roses, and soon after that, Slash and Steven Adler also joined.

The Appetite for Destruction version of the band started to exist in the middle of 1985.

Duff had some connections in Seattle and booked gigs for the band. Tracii was replaced by Slash since he didn't show up for rehearsal.

Late 1985:

Guns N' Roses played LA clubs like the Whiskey A Go-Go, the Roxy, the Water Club, the Troubadour and Scream. The sets used to begin with an intro tape of "What's That Noise" by the Stormtroopers Of Death. GN'R played early versions of original songs like "Welcome To The Jungle", "Reckless Life", "It's So Easy" and "Don't Cry". By the end of 1985 the band had already written fourteen original songs.

The band had to play covers to keep the club audiences happy. They played songs by Aerosmith ("Mama Kin"), Elvis Presley ("Heartbreak Hotel") and The Rolling Stones ("Jumping Jack Flash").

June 8th, 1985 - GN'R plays in Seattle with The Fastbacks. This is from Clark Humphrey's book "Loser The Real Seattle Music Story":

Fastbacks-Silly Killers-Vains-Fartz-10 Minute Warning vet Duff McKagan returned from L.A. to perform one show at the Omni Room. It was the first show on the first tour by his new band, first called Hollywood Rose but by then known as Guns n' Roses (the Fastbacks opened). The band hitchhiked part of the way when its van broke down on Interstate 5; the guys only received $50 of their promised $250 fee for a gig only 13 people saw.

GN'R rehearsed for a couple of days and started The Hell Tour. The trip to Seattle wasn't a success. After driving 100 miles their car broke down. They had to hitchhike and when they arrived in Seattle no one cared about them. Most of the shows had been cancelled and they only got $50 a show instead of the promised $250.

GN'R went back to Los Angeles and continued to rehearse. Their "home" on Sunset Boulevard was called The Hell House. They hadn't money so they lived on cheap wine and biscuits.

Premiere of Lifetime's Five, an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people's lives.

The female-led project put a spotlight on famous women taking the director's chair for each of the five shorts, which air as one movie on Lifetime on Oct. 10 (9 p.m. ET/PT). "I have to say Jennifer and Demi, watching them transform from actors to directors was really exciting to watch," said Tripplehorn, who plays an oncologist in all five shorts. "They are naturals, they should do it more often." Clarkson, who plays a feisty survivor named Mia, also raved about Aniston as a director. "I worked with a little someone named Martin Scorsese and a little someone named Woody Allen and let me tell you, Jennifer holds her own."

Aniston, in a low-cut black vest and slim trousers, literally stopped traffic downtown getting out of her SUV as boyfriend Justin Theroux quickly headed inside the venue. Meanwhile, Clarkson walked the carpet with a diamond-encrusted gold leaf necklace around her neck. "This is from Jennifer Aniston," she said with a smile.

Aniston's favorite part about being back in New York? "The people!" she said, as across the street a topless woman photographed the event. "That is brilliant," laughed Tripplehorn. "That's what it's all about right there. We're dealing with breasts tonight. I love New York!"

Kelly Clarkson was in in Australia this week to promote her new album Stronger, and Take 40 were lucky enough to sit down and chat with the gorgeous gal!

Kelly's latest single 'Mr. Know It All,' has been met with a huge response from Aussie fans and we were wondering what it was all about... has she dated a Mr. Know It All?

Kelly assured us that it's not about anyone specific, but more about general annoying people she might have worked with in the past.

"I've had a lot of man bashing songs..." she told Take 40, "(but) I'm actually very nice."

We also wanted to know whether she liked listening to her own music in those intimate moments... and her answer? Hmm not her own tunes exactly, but rather something heavily surprising!

There's no mistaking where she gets her fashion sense from – even if a mini dress, high heels and flaming red lipstick are not every mother’s idea of what their 14-year-old should wear.

The singer was happy to let her daughter take the spotlight and the hosting duties as they celebrated the first birthday of their Material Girl clothing line at Macy’s department store in New York.

Looking far older than her years – and remarkably like her mother – Lourdes, nicknamed Lola, attended the party and fashion show
with Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

She took over as the label’s ‘muse’ after Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen was sacked for comparing its style to that of a ‘highclass hooker’.

When it comes to clothes for warmer weather, it’s shorts for spring that are all the rage for the girls. “I’m like obsessed with them,” said Lourdes.

While Osbourne pointed out the accessories. 'The shoes - there’s a pair of nude heels that I’m really obsessed with.

'There’s so much stuff in it that’s so me and what I wear. There’s a leopard dress that I get to wear next that I’m excited about. I love prints,' she told People Magazine.

The pair also mentioned the affordability of the brand.

'There’s not many other companies besides Material Girl that do clothes at an affordable price that are high fashion and [are] what people see in the magazines and can emulate themselves without having to go and spend $1000 on a dress, she said.

Kelly has also admitted to taking 'so much of my style from Madonna in the Eighties'.

But will have to be very careful about what she says as the clothes and the ad campaigns are aimed at teenagers.
